Description
A “moon lamp” or “moon bed light” is a decorative lighting piece designed to mimic the look of the moon: its cratered texture, soft glow, ambience etc. Often used as a night light, bedside lamp, mood light, décor piece. Some are simple lamps you put beside the bed; others are projector-style that cast moon / star patterns; some even levitate.
They are typically made using 3D printing (for realistic texture), or plastic/acrylic moulds, with LEDs. Power is usually USB / battery / adapter. Many have touch controls, color change modes, dimming etc.
Key Features & Specs to Expect
Here are features commonly found in moon lamps / bed lights, and things to check:
| Feature | Why It Matters / What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Material & Finish | 3D-printed PLA or similar (good texture), or acrylic/plastic. The texture determines how realistic the moon’s surface looks. |
| Size / Diameter | Smaller size for bedside or shelf; larger sizes for décor centrepieces. Typical sizes are ~10-15 cm, sometimes larger. |
| Power Source | USB powered, rechargeable battery, or wall adapter. Rechargeable lamps allow cordless placement; USB makes charging easier. |
| Light Modes / Color Options | Fixed warm white, or multiple colors (warm, cool, RGB etc.). Often touch control or button to cycle through colours. |
| Brightness Control | Dimming or levels of brightness help avoid harsh lighting at night. |
| Stand / Base | Wooden or plastic base, mount/stand or sometimes levitation / magnetic float base. |
| Safety | Heat management, non-toxic materials, LED low power so surface doesn’t get too hot. Especially for kids. |
| Decoration / Ambience | Projection (stars/moon patterns), floating designs, levitating bases etc. These add to visual impact. |
